Attorney General To Address OJJDP Youth Gang Symposium

Attorney General Michael B. MukaseyAttorney General Michael Mukasey will open OJJDP's Youth Gang Symposium, to be held June 24–26, in Atlanta, GA. OJJDP Administrator J. Robert Flores will address the symposium, as will Nicky Cruz, a former gang leader working to help troubled youth. Cal Ripken, Jr., founder of the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation, an invited speaker, is a role model and community leader dedicated to helping youth make positive choices. The symposium's theme is “Partnering to Prevent Gang Violence: From Faith-Based and Community Organizations to Law Enforcement.” Register now. More icon

White House To Host Faith-Based Initiative Conferences
The White House is hosting a series of conferences designed to connect social service organizations with resources to enhance their services. The conferences will provide information about the President's Faith-Based and Community Initiative, the Federal grant process, funding opportunities, and the responsibilities that come with Federal funding. Tribal Juvenile Accountability Discretionary Grants Applicants Sought

OJJDP seeks applicants under its FY 2008 Tribal Youth Program’s Juvenile Accountability Discretionary Grants to develop and implement programs that hold delinquent tribal youth accountable and strengthen tribal juvenile justice systems. Federally recognized tribes and tribal partnerships are encouraged to apply. The application deadline is June 13.  More icon
