Data Analysis Tools
With support from OJJDP, the National Center for Juvenile
Justice has developed a family of data analysis and dissemination
tools that give users quick and easy access to detailed statistics
on a variety of juvenile justice topics. Two such data analysis
tools provide access to corrections data:
- Census of Juveniles in Residential Placement Databook
provides access to detailed data on juvenile offenders in custody (age,
gender, race/ethnicity, offense, type of facility, and placement
status), for the most recent census and for previous censuses.
Users can view tables that profile the total United States
and individual states or tables that show state comparisons.
The tables can be saved and imported into spreadsheet software
for further analysis. The CJRP data are collected biennially
for OJJDP by the U.S. Census Bureau in odd-numbered years.
- Easy Access to the Census of Juveniles
in Residential Placement gives users quick
access to national data on the characteristics of youth held in residential
placement facilities, including detailed information about the youth's age, sex,
race/ethnicity, placement status, length of stay, and most serious offense.
The tables can be saved and imported into spreadsheet software
for further analysis. The CJRP data are collected biennially
for OJJDP by the U.S. Census Bureau in odd-numbered years.
