Following the general pattern of other assaultive offenses, the juvenile arrest rate for forcible rape increased from the early 1980s through the early 1990s and then fell substantially.

- Over the 1980-2007 period, the juvenile arrest rate for forcible rape peaked in 1991, 44% above its 1980 level.
- With few exceptions, the juvenile arrest rate for forcible rape dropped annually from 1991 through 2007.
- By 1999, it had returned to its 1980 level. By 2007, the rate had fallen to a point 34% below the 1980 level and 54% below its 1991 peak.
