- Male and female arrest rates for murder followed similar patterns between 1980 and 2007. Both reached their peak in 1993. The 1993 rate for females was 61% above its 1980 level and the male rate was 128% above its 1980 level.
- The rates declined since 1993 so that by 2007, both arrest rates were substantially below their levels of the early 1980s.
- Females accounted for 8% of all juvenile murder arrests in 2007.
