Male juvenile larceny-theft arrest rates generally declined throughout the 1990s but female rates declined only after 1996.

- The juvenile male arrest rate for larceny-theft fell 58% between 1991 and 2007. Comparatively, the female rate declined 29% between 1996 and 2007. By 2007, the rate for males was more than half the rate in 1980 while the rate for females was just 1% below its 1980 level.
- Females represented 43% of all juvenile arrests for larceny-theft in 2007.
