Trends in arrests for driving under the influence were similar for white and American Indian juveniles.

- For white and American Indian juveniles, arrest rates for driving under the influence declined from 1980 into the early 1990s. The rate for whites reached a low in 1993 (60% below the 1980 rate) and the rate for American Indians reached its lowpoint in 2000 (52% below the 1980 rate). For both groups, the rates in 2007 remained well below their 1980 levels.
- Compared to whites and American Indians, trends for black and Asian juveniles showed greater stability over the 28-year period.
